Liberator 4.1
Led by vocalist/video director Tunde Adebimpe and producer David Andrew Sitek, Brooklyn art-rockers TV On The Radio conquered 2004. They took their place as indie it-band of the year with the promise of the EP "Young Liars," (Touch&Go) followed by the success of their full-length "Desperate Youth, Young Blood Thirsty Babes" (Touch&Go). Their brand of electronic soul/indie rock featured the alt-hit "Starring At the Sun," where vocalist Adebimpe invokes a Peter Gabriel vibrato that you'll either love or hate. TV On The Radio uncannily incorporates soulful, doowop-flavored vocals and electronic programming into indie rocks holy sameness. Here the group becomes more of a band injecting new energy to its sound. While not as experimental or adventurous as "Desperate Youth," on this EP, "New Health Rock" delivers a remarkably fresh approach to their electro-soul with distorted guitar sounds. Also includes the b-side's "The Wrong Way" and "Modern Romance" |
