Liberator 4.4
The Most Serene Republic
The Underwater Cinematographer

Heralded throughout Canada as the first band signed to the prestigious indie label Arts & Crafts whose members don’t play in Broken Social Scene. The 6-piece band from Milton, Ontario rock out with a playful exuberance that only kids under drinking age can, and they have made a charming debut. The Underwater Cinematographer was originally released about a year ago on Sunday League, and is now being re-issued by Arts & Crafts. Napoleon Dynamite look-alike singer Adrian Jewett and singer/guitarist Emma Ditchburn play with an abundance of energy and passion. If standout tracks “(Oh) God” and “Where Cedar Nouns and Adverbs Walk” are any indication, great things are ahead for TMSR. Loaded with distorted guitars, feedback, piano breaks, mid-song time changes, and multiple vocal choruses, they have the framework to be a great band. A welcome addition to Canada’s ever-growing indie scene.
