Liberator 4.3
Forget what you heard, this isn’t just another one of those self-proclaimed “neo-soul” joints. The Love Experience is a must have thirst-quencher for true R&B fans’ seemingly obvious dry spell. “Are you feeling loved today?” is the intro question young soulful singer Raheem Devaughn poses on his solid debut, and before you realize how caught up you are in what can best be described as a mature man’s view of love and affection, he hits you with “Guess who loves you more?” a soulful, laid back track about restoring a woman’s faith and hope in love. On “You,” Raheem isn’t afraid to admit that “every word in this song is about you” and on “Green Leaves” he reminds lovers to keep growing with an upbeat melody. This much- anticipated album would make you remember love you lost or want to go out and find the love you never had. Raheem’s power to invoke such unbridled emotions from start to finish is what separates him from the pack…. that and the fact that he either wrote or co-wrote all the tracks on The Love Experience. I’ve seen Raheem Devaughn perform live, and trust, this album only scratches the surface of what this artist has to offer. words: Erika Evans-Grant |
