RESOLANA- Emerging Chicano Dialogues on Community and Globalization
Whats up yall..
So my father was a mad activist/musican in the 60's-70's with black panthers in TX/CA and then doing work in California, Texas and New Mexico with the Chicano Movement (he is mexican). He was part of a group actually like the liberator in the late 60's- 70's called La Academia de la Nueva Raza (Academy of the New Humanity).. They published some quite a few books and there is a new book out about "Chicanoism" and some of the history within that.. Tomas Atencio who I just visited (is one of my father mentors and best friends) in New Mexico just published this book.. Check it out.. there is an excerpt within the link.. La Academia was a group like this. with artist, musicans, philosophers, priest's, lol whoever was interested in social change and defining what "Chicano" was at the time within a ground level perspective.. I might soon try to get some funding and make a documentary about La Academia and the children who grew up around this enviornment like myself, my sister, etc.. http://www.uapress.arizona.edu/BOOKS/bid2081.htm peace, Tomas |
