Teacher uses the word Nigga......
Wow....about 2 min's into the news storie I actually thought for a nano second that maybe this was some sort of a practical joke....but it's not. U are right, it's crazy what we dedicate time to and choose to argue about. I feel really bad for the teacher.....he is very lost......quick question do you remember a particular white chick (MM) at the 'burn who used to say that word like it was nothing, You were real cool w/her so I'd think u'd have been around her at least one of the many times she said it....to this day it kind of bugs me.

b, laughable is an extreme understatement. "niggaaaaaaaaaaa" hahahahahahaha, i swear it just tickled the hell out of me everytime he said it. "get away from the door,---niggaaaaa" hahahahaha lmao.
Dont get me wrong, it is very irritating to see a white person use the term because from them it comes off to me like they are using it in a way their forefather's meant it to be used, but how can we be up in arms about it when we use it so often? |

Reply to 2Cent's post
I feel u, that's why I said it kind of bothers me, the girl from the 'burn who would say it all the time...and that was what I thought about her....Everyone around her uses it and black folks use it towards each other....I was just shocked when she said it to her black friends and no one ever winced.....it's just disturbing overall. U pose a very good question though 2cent, "how can we be up in arms about it when we use it so often?". It would be an excellent topic at the forum or at least for all communities to begin asking themselves.

i think that the answer to end the use of it is to give people something else to focus on.
when i'm on point with my readings, making connections with the past, trying to apply it to the present -- whether its through my art or whatever... when you're connected to somekind of action for change you really almost forget to use the word. even in music, you'll notice most songs that are outside of the box of "sex, drugs, money, guns, violence, clubbing" have little to no use for the word... and i gotta admit there are some songs outside of "the box" that do use the word, but give em time and i bet you'll see it start to go away. so the answer i think is to refocus peoples attention. |
