Liberty or Death! Haiti’s Declaration of Independence

An original copy of Haiti’s Declaration of Independence has been discovered at the British National Archives in London, where it reached via the Jamaican National Archives, underlining the historical links between Jamaica and Haiti dramatised by the leading role of Boukman, the enslaved African from Jamaica, in the uprising of August 1791 which started the Haitian Revolution.
