Redhook, Brooklyn / $600 room in 2br apt
Looking for a clean, organized, relatively quiet (e.g. I have no TV in the living room and would like to keep it that way), and peaceful minded person to rent a room.
Room is small, like most places in Redhook (hence the price) but not tiny like some makeshift room you'd find in Bushwick. You could fit a twin size bed, desk, and clothing rack (no built in closet) comfortably -- a full size bed would take up over 1/3 of the space though. For extra storage you could elevate your bed and install shelving. It has a fire escape that you can chill on (no cigarettes in the apartment) and is a VERY VERY VERY sunny room (two tall windows face East, and since the apartment is on the top floor the view overlooks the Brooklyn-Queens expressway and a bit of Brooklyn skyline; a tall church or two). I also have rooftop access. Heat and hot water are included in rent. We will split internet and electricity. The apartment is 2.5 blocks from the F/G trains, easy access to Manhattan, downtown Brooklyn and Bedstuy. Redhook is the best neighborhood in Brooklyn I've ever lived in. There are two parks (one about 2 square blocks, the other is huge -- about 8 square blocks), there is a public gym that costs $70 A YEAR! 2 blocks away, and it's right near the upper bay waterfront (view of the Statue of Liberty, with a pier at Valentino Park that you can fish off of), there are every kind of restaurant and bar in the neighborhood and in adjoining communities like Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill, Ikea is a few blocks away, and the community is relatively quiet for NYC -- a good thing for students. $600 first month's rent and $600 security deposit. |
